Cedar Hall Construction: Kirby Smith Lot

Dear LSU Community,

Due to the construction of Cedar Hall, the Kirby Smith Lot is scheduled to go offline beginning Monday, Nov. 6. Students, faculty & staff, and visitors that normally utilize this lot are encouraged to park in the newly extended Band Hall Gravel Lot (immediately next to the new Tiger Band Hall) which is available to all permit types. Commuters who normally park in this area are encouraged to park along Skip Bertman Drive and utilize the South Stadium/Skip Bertman Express Shuttle.

The message below was sent to residents from LSU Residential Life to prepare for the closure. Please make note of this important information.

Preparations for construction of a new residence hall, Cedar Hall, will begin this weekend in the parking lot behind Kirby Smith Hall.

The contractor will begin installing construction fencing this weekend, and all cars must be removed from the interior of the fencing by Monday, November 6, 2017, or risk being towed on a daily basis at the owner’s expense. Please follow all posted signage around the construction site to avoid being towed and to maintain site and community safety.

Several other resident parking zones surrounding the west campus residence halls and apartments are available including:

  • Resident lots across Aster Street from Cypress Hall and West Campus Apartments (WCA)
  • Resident zones surrounding WCA
  • Resident zones between WCA and Broussard Hall
  • NEW resident lots being built near the LSU Band Hall and band practice field on Aster Street and Gov. Claiborne Drive
  • View a detailed parking map here.

As a reminder, if you park further away from your building and would like an escort to your building, contact Campus Transit or the LSU Police at the Public Safety Building. Residential Life also employs a Public Resource Neighborhood Officer to patrol the Aster Street/Gov. Claiborne Dr. area overnight. Additional lighting and walkways will be added around the construction area to make it more pedestrian-friendly.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we begin to build the next great residence hall for future tigers to experience life on campus at LSU.

Thank you,
